Lois Eastlund Store in NYC Being a designer herself, Lois Eastlund wanted a space where she could sell her designs directly to her customer.  And in October of 2008 after 20 years of being a designer, Eastlund realized her goal.  Selling women’s dresses, men’s shirts and touches of vintage, her boutique is busy with loyal clientele, which is growing via her Facebook fan page, website, blog, and local advertising efforts.  Since she is  a one-woman operation, she does everything herself… from designing to making the clothing to choosing accessories and selling, marketing, and running the store – she is one busy lady. RETAILER SPOTLIGHT – Huminska

February 9, 2010 by

HuminskaJanice Huminska opened her charming little dress shop doors in 2001, but has been designing apparel and accessories out of pure need (she towered over her peers) and love since childhood. Huminska started as a custom milliner.  In the 80′s she sold her hats to shops around town and on the street.  She apprenticed at Roth Imports with darling ladies who had been making hats since the 1940′s and 50′s, chatting up a storm and learning all the secrets of the trade.  After a little over a decade of selling her own line nationwide, and including shops like Barneys, Bendels, Nordstrom, Fred Segal et al, and adorning stars for shows and weddings, like Helen Gurley Brown, LL Cool J, Ricky Lake she decided to move on to dresses.

Relying on word of mouth she has garnered a following that stays true blue with her… dressing  everyone  from the waif to the full figured gal, in her  20′s to 60′s.

“I do like to make a hat now and again for fun, and display them therein as well along with a few choice purses and a shoe line from time to time,  which serve more as props, since the dresses are all anyone sees when they enter the shop.”
