Day 2 of ASD Show in Las Vegas Impresses in Countless Ways

Day 2 of the ASD Show in Las Vegas was a day to remember! Kicking off the day was keynote speaker Andrew Aviza, Sales Manager of Retail and Commerce for Twitter, who spoke as part of the Independent Retailer Conference presented by LightSpeed POS. Additionally, some other stand out experiences from the day included presentations from a variety of speakers during the Independent Retailer Conference and the Sourcing Direct seminar stage – both taking place onsite at the ASD Show.

I had a fantastic time learning from others today, which I can’t wait to bring back to my store,” show attendee Michelle Kicks stated. Kicks, a Nebraska based retailer, said that she has been attending ASD for many years and is thrilled to see growth of educational opportunities at the show.

Retailers Karen Hollis of K. Hollis Jewelers from Batavia, Illinois and Cynthia Sutton from The Silver Barn in southern Texas not only attended the ASD Show for the first time this August, but also helped to contributed some best practices from their own stores during a seminar taking place at Sourcing Direct. Among the highlighted tips they offered included Sutton stating that “just because it’s a trend, it doesn’t mean it will sell for your customers.” Sutton also stressed the value in knowing your customers, your community and the trends that exist within your immediate neck of the woods versus mass market trends. Hollis also shared valuable insight, stating that she treats her customers as if they are in her home versus “just some store”. This type of friendly TLC has helped her become the leading jewelry store in her Illinois community, with customers that come specifically to her store just for the personalized customer care.

Additional seminars that stood out today included one from Candice Noble from Soldsie, who discussed ways to maximize selling via social media. Among her tips included reaching your customers where they are – including online via Facebook and Instagram. LightSpeed POS also had some fantastic insight to share, stating that knowing your customers allows you to support them better in your choice of inventory and customer service. Other presenters included Suzy Teele from SnapRetail, Bill McNulty from Independent Retailer Magazine, David Nawrocki from Retail Studio Effect, Ron Cates from Constant Contact, Darnell Holloway from Yelp and many more.
