RETAILER SPOTLIGHT – City Soles

CitySolesAfter starting in the shoe business as a sales associate in high school, Scott Starbuck started City Soles in 1991.  In between that time he was a buyer, merchandiser and manager, so owning his own business was a natural fit. since he had a wide range of experience to bring to his own store. Nearly twenty years later, City Soles excels in customer satisfaction based on both their customer service and amazing product assortment. Owner Starbuck travels the globe from Milan to Vegas, scouring the markets for men’s and women’s footwear such as Joie, Chie Mirhara and much more. In addition to fabulous footwear that you can’t find in most shoe stores, City Soles offers gloves, hats, handbags and carries about 10 local jewelry designers in this Chicago boutique. Adding to the success of great foot traffic and much deserved press, City Soles also reaches their customers through Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools.

The Retailer Spotlight showcases independent retailers who stand out in the marketplace for a variety of reasons, including product assortment, store merchandising and their participation within their respective communities. There are many leading boutiques in the marketplace, but with the help of Nolcha, Retail Minded is choosing the select few that stand out amongst the rest to showcase. I bought a pair of shoes here a couple years ago. This place is great. While the merch is priced somewhat high, because it’s a small business and not a chain I was able to negotiate a much better deal. Well worth checking out.

Scott is not an honerable person – be careful with money matters with him.
I sold him over $5000 worth of shoes at wholesale. He sold them in his store but never paid for them. I tried every known way to get him to pay, but he simply refused to do so.
According to the collection agency I hired – he has done this numerous times in the past too.
