From the Editor: And We’re Off…
Today marks a first for my family and I. A trip to Disney World in Florida. While my husband and I have been there, this is the first time we’re heading there together. As a mom, I am so excited. As a consumer… well, I’m a little scared. Disney delivers fantastic marketing, outstanding customer service and let’s face it… my kiddos will do a pretty good job on “selling” their mommy and daddy on quite a bit, as well. But as a retail researcher, I am as giddy as my 5 year old getting to meet “real princesses” this week. I can’t wait to watch how customers of all ages experience Disney, what Disney does to capture consumer attention and try and identify how some of what Disney does can translate to indie retailers.

On another note, I’m also curious how Southwest airlines will handle my request for “no peanuts” on the plane due to my son’s severe allergy, as well as the countless other consumer experiences we will encounter as a family in the days ahead. Fingers crossed!
